Immortal Romance II review: What to expect, features and gameplayImmortal Romance II review: What to expect, features and gameplay

The original Immortal Romance slot may have been released all the way back in 2011, but that hasn’t stopped it from staying on the most popular slot titles of all time.
The online slot game has a cast of main characters, Amber, Michael, Sara and Troy, each with their own supernatural powers. Of course, the most observant among you will no doubt recognise this theme from the late 2000s.
There was a particular vampire series that was popular during this time, Twilight. The first film came out in 2008, New Moon in 2009, Eclipse in 2010 and Breaking Dawn Part 1 in 2011. Of course, vampires and the supernatural were all the rage back then – if you’re old enough to even play slots, then you’ll remember it well.
The original Immortal Romance was created by Microgaming, but is often attributed to Games Global, seeing as this company acquired the online gaming portfolio of Microgaming on May 3, 2022.
For those of you who haven’t heard of Stormcraft Studios before, then don’t worry. If the horror theme wasn’t already spooky enough, then of course it’s going to be scary to find out a different studio are making the sequel to your favourite game! However, Stormcraft Studios create games exclusively for Games Global and already have several major titles under their belt, including Agent Jane Blonde Returns, Fortunium, Thunderstruck, and Fire Force.
What to expect from Immortal Romance II
The Immortal Romance II slot is a five-reel, three-row slot with a standard 243 ways to win, unless you trigger the Wild Desire feature – more on that later!
The artwork is clean and sharp, while managing to keep that very special feeling the first Immortal Romance game managed to evoke so well. Very often a sequel will feel either too different or too similar to the original game, but Stormcraft Studios have nailed it perfectly. Immortal Romance II feels like an upgraded experience, with all of the charm still there.
It’s not just the visuals which are spot on either, but the soundtracks are wonderful too. Soundtracks, plural? I hear you ask. There’s a very special aspect to this slot which players will no doubt enjoy going through, and that is the customization feature.
This will let you select between a range of backgrounds or soundtracks so that you can tailor the experience exactly how you want it. These are unlocked through the bloodline gameplay, which gives you a great way to progress through the story.
Immortal Romance II Features
If you’re wondering if there’ll be Immortal Romance II free spins available, then you’re in luck. There are several ways to get free spins in this game, and each of them will vary in how many they’ll award.
The first way to win free spins in Immortal Romance II is to land at least three lion’s heads. These are a perfect symbol of Gothic architecture opulence – giant, golden lion head door knockers. If you land this, then you’ll get to pick which of the characters you want to get the free spins from.
- Sarah – Stacked Sticky Mystery Symbols, Multiplier Trail and 12 Free Spins
- Michael – Synchronized Reel Spins and 12 Free Spins
- Troy – Locking Wild Wins, Spawn Extra Wilds and 12 Free Spins
- Amber – Wild Multiplier Increases 3x Per Roll and 12 Free Spins
This is a fantastic way to keep the gameplay loop fresh while you play, while also giving you a choice in how you want to play the game! It’s up to you to decide whether you want to keep choosing your favorite character, or whether you want to try one of the new Immortal Romance II features from one of the others.
As for the general gameplay, it uses rolling reels with sticky multipliers, which means that if you get five of a kind, then they’ll burst in a colorful, but tasteful manner, before being replaced with new symbols. This cascading feature will give you a chance to get new multipliers, free spins or jackpots from Immortal Romance II.
There are progressive jackpots in Immortal Romance II, sort of. There are four different jackpots relating to each character and each of them have their own scale. Amber is 50x, Troy is 75x, Michael is 200x and Sarah a whopping 1,500x. If you manage to land a character and collect a gem from them, then this can trigger the Jackpot Wheel.
While playing, if you manage to land blood droplets on the reels, these can be added to the Wild Desire multiplier on the left of the screen. This will then come into play later once you trigger the Wild Desire feature… Speaking of which…
The Immortal Romance II Wild Desire Feature
Immortal Romance fans rejoice, the Wild Desire feature is making its return!
The esteemed feature is back and just in the same way as you remember it.
If you want to know how to get the Immortal Romance II Wild Desire feature, it couldn’t be easier. As you play, you’ll collect blood droplets, which will increase the Wild Desire multiplier in the top left-hand corner. If you manage to land three of these blood droplets on the reels, then you’ll launch the Wild Desire bonus feature.
The Wild Desire mini-game will then start, which extends the reels into a five-reel, four-row slot. Not only does this give more space for the Wild Reels to land, but it actually increases the ways to win from 243 up to 1,024. That’s right, 1,024 ways to win during the Wild Desire bonus feature!
These Wilds will also have the multiplier from earlier applied to them, which only adds to the winning potential.
Our conclusion
Ultimately, Immortal Romance II seems like it’s going to be a very good sequel to the first game. Rather than making it too different from the new game, or not making enough changes at all, it’s really hit that sweet spot in the middle that modernizes the game while keeping the iconic atmosphere of the original.
No matter whether you were a fan of the first Immortal Romance slot or not, this’ll be something you’ll want to sink your teeth into when it releases 28 May, 2024.
